Like several above have mentioned, being self employed is a pretty cool thing, however it can also become a trap, similar to a bad relationship. Folks sink all they have into a business, and it just sputters about, they can't afford to stop. That is a pretty scary position to be in. Michael Gerber's E-Myth Mastery is a great read for anyone thinking about starting a small business. Running and operating a successful business requires significant capital. Notwithstanding the bootstrap approach, which is an option, although not recommended, better have availability to sufficient capital BEFORE starting your business, it is much easier than after, because after is typically too late.
